Four Months

Weight:15lbs. 13oz.
Height: 27 inches
Diaper Size: two
Clothing Size: 6 months
Eating Schedule: every 3 hours during the day; wakes up for one feeding at night (anywhere between 4:00-5:00 a.m.)
Cries when: hungry and tired
Milestones: Rolling from side to side (mostly to his right) and arching his back (especially in the bathtub)!
Calvin has become even more vocal than last month and has also started to sit up in his Bumbo chair (shown in this month’s photo). He doesn’t stay up straight for long (you can see he ends up leaning forward), but he’s working on it J
I also discovered a little white bump on his bottom gum a couple of weeks ago…looks like we may have an early teether! It hasn’t cut the gum yet, so we’ll see how long before we start getting our chompers!
Calvin was also baptized this past Sunday. I’ll get some photos up for my next post!

Three Months

Weight: @ 14 lbs. 5 oz.
Diaper Size: one
Clothing Size: still able to squeeze into a small handful of 3 month clothes, but we’re mostly transitioned into 6 months
Eating Schedule: every 2.5-3 hours during the day; wakes up for one feeding at night (anywhere between 3:30-5:00 a.m.)
Cries when: hungry and tired
Milestones: Calvin has definitely discovered how to maneuver his body! He loves to splash and kick in the bathtub…it is his favorite part of the day! He has also started stomping his feet on the changing table and lifting his butt! He hasn’t “rolled over,” but while on his back he rolled from one side to the other.

Calvin has discovered his hands as well. He mostly tries to stick his entire fist in his mouth, sometimes both if he’s feeling extra determined. Just a few days ago, he sucked his thumb for the first time for a few seconds!

Calvin has become extremely vocal the last few weeks. He responds when you talk to him, and he loves hearing, “I love you!” His coos and smiles truly melt our hearts.

Each day is better than the last. We love watching him grow and change every day. It has truly been an incredible experience for us as new parents!

Two Months

Weight: 11 lbs.8 oz.
Diaper size: one
Clothing size: 0-3 months
Eating schedule: every 2.5-3 hours during the day, between 4-5 hours at night
Cries when: hungry, tired or gassy
Milestones:
-better and better head control! Calvin’s head is only resting on our shoulders when he’s sleepy or wanting to cuddle.
-extremely alert! Calvin is very observant and loves to look at the world around him as well as check out all of his toys!
-coos and smiles J. Calvin is a very happy baby and loves to “talk” to us and smile back when we give him a big smile.
-At 7 weeks, Calvin graduated to sleeping in his crib in his own room! He’s not always a fan of being flat on his back, so we were a little nervous about the transition from his bassinet (which had a slight incline). But with a good swaddle, he’s snug as a bug and has been doing fantastic in the crib!

Clothing size: newborn

Cries when: hungry, has a dirty diaper, tired

-Calvin has great head control while held upright and also does great holding his head up for short periods during tummy time
-grasps well...he has quite the grip!
-contrary to his first experience, Calvin now loves bath time!

Week 39...Calvin's Birthday Week!!!

How far along? 39 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +22 lbs. total
Maternity clothes? Maternity clothes overall are definitely most comfortable now.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Pretty uncomfortable now. The weight of my belly is so heavy and this past week I’ve gotten up at least three times every night to go pee.
Miss Anything? Not feeling tired all the time and sleeping on my back.
Movement: A bit less this week, but the poor little guy is probably really cramped. He’s got very little space to move around!
Food cravings: still eating tons of watermelon
J
Anything making you queasy or sick? I keep knocking on wood…I have had zero morning sickness or any sickness for that matter!
Symptoms? Heartburn- mild and minimal this week. Lower back pain- I’ve learned to manage it, but a nice prenatal massage definitely helped. Nasal congestion- has increased this past week, breathing is just difficult. Left ear clogging- happening just about daily. Exhaustion- I’m basically tired all the time, but just power through and try to get to bed as early as possible.
Have you started to show yet? There’s no denying it at this point!
Gender: It’s a BOY!!! Calvin Anthony
J
Labor Signs: Some of the same lower back tingling like last week and some increased pressure, but that’s about it.
Belly Button in or out? I think it may be as out as it’s going to be. It’s stretched with a little bulge.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and getting really excited!
Exercise? Nope.
Looking forward to: Meeting Calvin on FRIDAY!!!!! I can’t believe he’ll be here in just four days!

Week 38

How far along? 38 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +22.8 lbs. total
Maternity clothes? Maternity clothes overall are definitely most comfortable now.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still the same. I basically build a Ft. Knox of pillows every night for support, but it has helped me sleep much better. However, “better” is basically, “as comfortable as I can get.” I can’t wait to sleep on my back again!!
Miss Anything? Not feeling tired all the time and sleeping on my back.
Movement: TONS of movement this week. He is super active, especially after I eat so it’s super cool to watch him move!
Food cravings: still eating tons of watermelon
J
Anything making you queasy or sick? I keep knocking on wood…I have had zero morning sickness or any sickness for that matter!
Symptoms? Heartburn- mild and minimal this week. Lower back pain- I’ve learned to manage it, but it has come back this week. Nasal congestion- pretty much a constant. Left ear clogging- happening just about daily. Exhaustion- I’m basically tired all the time, but just power through and try to get to bed as early as possible.
Have you started to show yet? There’s no denying it at this point!
Gender: It’s a BOY!!!
Labor Signs: I started feeling some short (no more than 10 seconds) tingling in my lower back the last couple of days that would go on for maybe a few minutes, then stop. Not sure if it was because it was the end of the day or if it was signs of contractions. However, I do know for a fact that I am having minor contractions regularly (I’m just not feeling them), because we saw it while hooked up to a monitor last week at the doctor (more on that below).
Belly Button in or out? I think it may be as out as it’s going to be. It’s stretched with a little bulge.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and getting really excited!
Exercise? Prenatal yoga this week
Looking forward to: meeting our little guy! 12 days and counting!!! We officially scheduled his arrival via c-section for Friday, November 1st. Again, that is unless he decides he wants to come sooner.

This past week we had our 37 week checkup where my doctor thought she heard a deceleration in the baby’s heartbeat (a drop which can indicate he is under distress). So after being triaged and hooooouuuuurs of monitoring, everything was fine and we were able to go home. It was definitely an eye opener that he could come at any time, but hopefully we won’t have any more scares and he stays put until the 1st J.

Another exciting tidbit of news:
WE FINALLY HAVE A NAME!!!
After all this time of indecisiveness (it’s so permanent!), we are so excited to finally meet
